Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

Attorney didn't pay

My daughter was in an accident on 11/05 we obtained an attorney. She was awarded a settlement in 12/06. Today she got a bill for a splint that the orthopedic doctor gave her. The bill came from a collection agencey. Recently she also found that the ambulence bill didn't get paid upon reguest and that it's on her credit report. All bills from the accident were given to the attorney. Those bills were supposed to be paid out of her settlement. What can she do?

Re: Attorney didn't pay

Unless those health providers had a lien, the attorney was not responsible for paying them. However, the attorney should have discussed it with you and perhaps tried to reduce the charges.
