Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in California

Plantiff attending defendant deposition

My attorney has encourged me(plantiff), to attend the deposition of the defendant in legal malpractice suit I have filed. I have not given my deposition yet. The expectation is 6 hours. I'm becoming increasingly anxious about attending, yet my atorney states my presence will be valuable to make sure the defendent is truthful in her statements. Is it common/standard to have plantiff attend defendents deposition? Will it help/make a difference?

Re: Plantiff attending defendant deposition

It is both common and helpful for a plaintiff to attend the defendant's deposition. You allege that your former attorney was negligent and you have the most knowledge of what happened between you and your former attorney. You can tell your current attorney if the defendant is lying and help your attorney prepare lines of questioning and address any new facts that might come up during the testimony.
