Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

My husband was hospitalized with MRSA a few years back shortly after having knee surgery.Than my oldest daughter caught it while still in her cast after having pins put in her leg.My youngest started having outbreaks regularly ...I assume she somehow picked it up at her dads home when visiting. My boyfriend almost immediately after leg surgery and has it re occur regularly he is badly scarred. My stepfather came down with it after hospitalization for C.O.P.D. I have watch his health fail horrible in one year. Last Week we had to rush him to emergency his heart stopped in the emergency room but he was saved ...he has been in ICU heavily sedated his lungs are failing he has pneumonia and on a resporater everyone has to wear gloves mask etc. to go in and see him.He had been feeling ill and told me that he had developed another sore this time in his nose and it was blocking the airway.I passed this on to the nurse she said they would check on it.They now feel that a trachiotomy is required to keep his lungs functioning I am frightened that its just going to make him sicker with the open wound. They also say he will probably require a nursing home because of the tubing I asked why can he come home they said he would require someone trained in respetary therapy to be at hand 24/7 Naturally I told them they would have to train me. I will not stick him in a home it would make him miserable and then it hit me that should this be the outcome I will no longer free to do anything either sounds like financial ruin.I knew that we all carry staph germs on us and just figured some of us were more resistant than others both my son and I had not gotten it.But then I had carpal tunnel surgery about 6 weeks ago I was only in the hospital for a little over an hour. The next day I had a massive sore in my nose and 3 days later one on my groin.Something is not right here what can I do? My daughter, husband and myself are Kaiser patients that is where we got ours. But boyfriend and stepfather went to two different hospitals. I am afraid of losing my stepfather my youngest daughters legs and armpits are terribly scarred. we stand to lose everything due to this illness

I am sorry to hear about your problems and you should consult an attorney that does mostly medical malpractice because it is a somewhat technical area of personal injury law. Hospital infection cases are generally very difficult to prove.

Hope that helps and good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
