Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I broke a car window with a golf ball. Repair quotes from local repair shops average $225. The car owner insisted on having the repair done at new car dealership costing $496. The vehicle in question is 9 years old. I know I'm at fault, but am I required to pay the inflated repair cost ($496) or am I responsible for the $225 average repair quoted locally?

I see you admitted fault. If you were golfing, and the car was parked at a golf course, I do not believe you'd be responsible. However, to answer your question, it might depend on the car whether or not it should be repaired by the dealer. Note that if the car is not a Ferrari, or a Bentley, you should pay the reasonable cost. Any place specializing in replacing auto glass would fix the window for far less than a dealer. Good luck.
