Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

bumping into someone

can a person sue me if i accidentally walked into them while in line at a store? they were behind me and i didn't know how close they really were to me. i did apologize immediately after i walked into them but they didn't seem to accept my apology.

I suppose, but it wouldn't be worth the bother unless she was harmed by the collision. The harm need not be a physical injury; if you damaged an expensive item of clothing, jewelry, etc., that might also support a lawsuit. Other types of harm could also suffice.

That would qualify for your basic negligence action but what was the injury? From your question it doesn't seem that they were harmed (physically or to their property). As a result, it wouldn't be worth the effort unless this is about something more than being fiscally compensated.

What was the injury? Damages is a required element in order to bring a personal injury case against another. Did you actually receive a letter of representation from an attorney?
