California law; 3 car auto accident
It is my understanding that in California you are always responsible if you rear end a vehicle. If the car you rear end subsequently rear ends another, is it your fault for having hit the first car, or theirs for not leaving the required space?

that is not the law. the one responsible is the one that casued the accident.
