I cut my hand at work and had to get stitches, can i sue for compensation?

You are entitled to Workers' Compensation benefits, which includes payment of all health care costs needed to treat the injury, TD while off work, permanent disability if there are any permanent injuries. It does not sound as though you would get very much in compensation. You can not file a civil suit against your employer because you are entitled to WC.
