Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I drive a charter bus. The other day, a guy got next to me and told me angrily to pull over from the carpool lane. I ignore him and continued driving. He then pulled in front of me and slammed on his brakes, made me stop, then got out and said I rear ended him. The passengers were frightened so we told him to pull over on the right. We continued driving and once again he got in front of me in the carpool lane and forced me to stop almost causing an accident. I did the same and told him to go to the right shoulder. I called the CHP and reported the incident, and so did the frightened passengers. They told me to keep driving and call them back if he kept bothering us. 2 weeks later, I receive a letter in the mail string that my bus had been involved in an incident of hit and run. This is a frivolous report. Do I have any recourse against him? I do have the passenger sitting in the front as a witness however, this is causing loss of time for something I know nothing about. What should I do?

The owner of the bus/company should contact their insurance company, thoroughly explain all the details, including why you did not pull onto the right shoulder, and see what they will do to handle the matter. I assume that the letter was not from the police.

You may be required to report it to your insurance, depending on your policy requirements. I might want an attorney in addition to reviewing your policy to write him a letter showing him you are represented, and that he is risking being sued by you for defamation, and others.

Your employer should handle it.
