i filed a small claims case in San Diego, but settled with the insurance company.

Is there any legal penelty for me, if I do not show up for the court date?

You need to file a requiest for dismissal. There is a judicial council form to make it easy.

Yes, there may be a penalty. The court might issue an order to show cause why you shouldn't be fined for wasting a court date. You should file a dismissal as Mr. Selik suggests.
