My girlfriend and I had purchased cell phone's not even a week ago and one of the phone's the battery cover on the back was very hard to take off . Attempting to remove the cover and a object on the inside had pierced and made a wound under my finger nail would I have a case

Whether or not the cellphone manufacturer would be liable, you have to ask, is the injury serious enough to go to court over? It sounds as if you received no medical attention. Is that true? If this is somehow a serious wound causing thousands (NOT hundreds) of dollars in medical billing, then it's worth geting a lawyer involved for a free consultation. Otherwise, no.
In a "real" products liability case you might have more severe injuries, and an expert witness might be hired to testify that the design or manufacture rendered the product defective and unreasonably dangerous, or that they failed to warn of the danger.
