Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

my grandson was shot in the head by a policeman. How much time do you have if you sue the police department and do you need a certain type of attorney?

Sorry for your loss. If you decide to file it in the state court then you must first file a claim with the appropriate governmental entity within 6 months. For example if the shooting was by the county sheriff, the claim must be filed with the county. If it was by a city cop, the claim must first be filed with the city.

These cases are also filled in federal court where the 6 month claim requirement doesn't exist.

You'll need a lawyer who knows how to try these types of cases as not every lawyer knows this area of law well enough to handle it.

Last year we obtained a seven figure verdict against Riverside country sheriff's department for killing a 20 year old boy.

These are very tragic cases and require a lot of expertise and will funded lawyer to be able to fight.

If you have more questions feel free to call me at 888-9ENFORCER (888-936-3672).

Take care.
