can the person u place a restain sue back ?

i want to place a restraining order on my abusive ex. i warned him to leave me alone or i'll file a restraining order. he threaten me if i did that, he'll sue me for slander and make sure that i'll lose everything i have and own. Is this possible?

if i did place a restaint, what legal harm can come from the restain person?

i'm afraid to go thru this. he claims to have connections and power to back him up. and i know he's capable of doing something. because this man a lawyer himself. plz help!!

The courts and restraining orders are there to protect you, despite the obvious lies you appear to believe about his 'connections'. You risk nothing by seeking a restraining order. Either take action to protect yourself, or continue to suffer abuse. Contact me if you decide to do the right thing.

Obtaining (or even just seeking) a restraining order can never be the basis of a slander judgment. Your ex can, however, potentially sue you for other statements you have made or that he claims you have made about him. If your application for a restraining order is denied he can then sue you for abuse of process, but he would have to prove your complaint was groundless and that is hard to do.

Try not to be intimidated by this man's threats. Such behavior is precisely what restraining orders are designed to address. If you think his personal connections make this situation unique, you should consult one-on-one with a local attorney.

Good luck.
