can i sue a manufacturere of a leaf blower when the top part of my thumb is cut off by the impeller blades even if the stock protective cover was missing. my thumb was able to be sewn back on,

If you knowingly ran it without the protective cover, you 'assumed the risk' of harm, and your claim would be tough to succeed on. If the cover was defective in some way, such as falling off frequently due to poor design, then that would have to be the basis of your claim.
