Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

How do I Select an Attorney?

I would like to know how to best select an attorney (generally speaking). I do not want to simply pick the first one found in a phone book. Instead, I would think that hiring legal counsel would be similar to interviewing job applicants. If this is the case, what types of general questions should I ask the attorney and the firm he or she works for?

Re: How do I Select an Attorney?

You should ask what experience he has with regard to the type of case you have. He should have at least some idea what options or remedies are available to you. a good attorney might not know every answer to your questions right away because most cases require at least some research but you should get a feel in the beginning that he understands the issues your case presents. You are generally putting a lot of trust in your attorney and they are not cheap so you should hire someone that you feel comfortable with and is dealing straight with you. Your calls should always be returned within a couple of days at the most. Most attorneys will not charge you for a first consultation so you can check them out before putting any money down.
