Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
tresspasing on Aprtment grounds
a person refused to exit my apartment, my wife asked them to leave and then closed the door on this person. The individual claimed that she was pushed, despite witnesses to the contrary. The person claimed that she fell down in front of our apt unit. She was laying on the grass, not the concrete in fron of our unit. She then called the ambulance under no medical necessity according to the paramedic. She insisted on going to the ER instead. My wife did not lay any hands on her, just closed the door when she asked the person to leave. We are being billed by her for the ambulance and the ER cost. What are our rights? Can she have us pay for the bill? (oh, by the way, she called the police claiming assault and batter however she did not press charges.

If she sues you, call your renter's insurance carrier.

Hopefully, you had renter's insurance and then you would turn this matter over to your ins. co. If you didn't have insurance, you would have to respond to the other person yourself to dispute her claim or reach some accommodation.
