Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I use to work for a valet parking and was 17 at the time. I was getting paid cash because I was not old enough to work there. Well one night i crashed real bad. A friend ran and asked me if i was alright and helped me get out of the car. My boss came with the owner of the car. I was asked for my license and was told that it was alright and that they were going to take care of the repair. I was shaking because it was my first accident and I was scared. The police came and did not pick up a report. Well 11 months later I get a letter saying I owe $16,000. It says they have closed the negotiation and are going to contact the DMV to suspend my license and it also says that they are planning to sue me. I am a student and I do not have money at all. I am scared and would like to know what to do now?

You should turn around and sue the person you worked for as a valet, both for the lawsuit and, if you were at all hurt in this accident, you might want to file a workers' compensation claim. Probably the employer was also illegally uninsured for workers' compensation. I would be happy to help you.

Since you were in the course and scope of your employment at the time of the accident, your employer is responsible for the damages to the other car. If they refuse to pay, you can sue them for failure to do so.

I would be happy to write for you a good attorney letter regarding the above, and several other things they did wrong that put them at fault, and responsible. If they take any action against you AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN THE PROPER LEGAL STEPS, they may even have to pay your attorneys' fees. In short, if you do this right, there is a good chance a letter a letter from me will end the dispute with your boss and the owner.
