Legal Question in Product Liability in California

Man Blinded by Heart Medicine wants attorney referral

A man in Oregon with the same situation as myself was awarded a $22 million dollar settlement for losing his vision from an anti-arrythmic drug called Amiodarone or Cordarone by Amer. Home Products. The case was upheld on appeal.I need to get good representation. I would like to know how I go about finding qualified counsel, besides the Martindale Hubbell Directory, Yellow Pages etc. There are not a lot of attorney's who have a lot of experience with Product Liability. I am having trouble with attorneys that have a conflict of interest. I would appreciate your suggestions.

I HAVE READ YOUR INQUIRY AND THE REPLIES OF OTHERS. I NOTE THAT SOME THAT HAVE REPLIED ARE VERY COMPETENT.

MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS TO TRY TO FIND AN ATTORNEY LOCAL TO YOUR AREA. LISTS OF ATTORNEYS ARE USUALLY AVAILABLE THROUGH LOCAL BAR ASSOCIATIONS AND THE CALIFORNIA CONSUMER ADVOCATES ASSOCIATION. SPEAK TO SEVERAL, EACH CONSULTATION SHOULD BE WITHOUT CHARGE. BEWARE OF A SHORT STATUTE OF LIMITATION.

Hello,

I am a trial lawyer and judge pro tem. I have handled thousands of cases regarding injury matters. I was a defense lawyer for insurance companies for nearly 15 years and now do only plaintiff work. I have tried 47 cases in civil court. I am admitted in Indiana and California. Your case sounds tragic. Did you have any discussions of side effects with your doctor before you took it? Losing you sight has to be one of the worst things that can happen. My uncle lost his 30 years ago and it has been just hell for him since. If there is anything I can do let me know how I can contact you. Note I practice both in Indiana and California commuting as necessary. Good luck to you.

Best regards,

Dr. Michael D. Cortson, JD, PhD, DD, JD-theologian

You are very wise to "shop around". The best way to find a lawyer that you feel comfortable with in such an important matter is to meet with several. I have over 20 years of experience in medical negligence and drug interaction matters. I represent plaintiffs, for the most part, in these matters. I do not know of any potential for a conflict based upon the information in your question. I would be pleased to be considered for the position. I have an AV rating in Martindale Hubbell. Please contact me at 818-760-0100 ext 101.

Re: Man Blinded by Heart Medicine wants attorney referral

This law firm does nothing but serious personal injury cases. Our litigation department is currently locked in product liability litigation over very serious injuries with names like Ford (false latch seat belt), U-Haul (negligent maintenance of rented vehicle) and TRW (negligent design). They have just completed a case wherein the client netted over a million dollars after attorneys fees, costs AND MEDICAL EXPENSES FOR LIFE. We have no problem taking on the big guys. We have the expertise, financing and will to win against the big guys. If this is the type of firm you want, call me, John Bisnar (800) 956-0123. Good luck on your case. The only way I know of to keep corporate America in check (protecting consumers rather than only making big profits) is for injured people like you to stand up and be counted. If they are at fault, make'um pay.
