Legal Question in Product Liability in California

Tire blow out and resulting damage

I drive a Ford 2002 Explorer with Good Year wrangler tires. On Oct 21st 1 AM the front left tire blew out while I was driving on Higway 92 towards Halfmoon Bay, CA. The car spinned of from the road and hit the curb and halted. Front left bottom of bumper was damaged. I contacted vehicle dealer who checked the blown out tire and said tire sperated from the rim and inflated it. The dealer informed me that the tires and tire related damages are not covered by them and hence I would have to pay for it. The car is brand new and has only 1000 miles on it and the air pressures are as per specifications. I want a second opinion on this and want to know if I should retain a lawyer . I am scared to drive on the same old tires.

Re: Tire blow out and resulting damage

He means they are not covered by Ford warrantee, which is true. The tire manufacturer warrantees the tires. As far as it being a defective product, you may also have a lawsuit on that basis.
