Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Ok, I have 2 questions. First, I bought a car from a used car dealership in 2011. The tags on the plate were up until Dec of 2012, or so I thought. In April of 2012 I received a registration notice that I had until the end of may to register, etc etc. So I paid the registration thinking nothing of it. Is it illegal for the car dealership to sell me a car under false pretenses? And what should I do about it 2 years later?

Second question. This year, with the same truck as in the above question, I took it down to get smoged for this years registration. The mechanic informed me that the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipes were not street legal. Can the car dealership sell a car that isn't street legal and what can I do about it 2 years later?

Your questions do not seem to have anything to do with "Real Estate and Real Property." Some LawGuru real estate lawyers might be willing to try to answer your questions, but I really think you'd get more (and better?) responses if you re-ask your question in a more appropriate category. Cars and trucks aren't real estate.
