Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Backyard Privacy Issues

My neighbor recently added a 2nd story room addition to his home. While the inspectors have approved this, I feel my privacy will no doubt be invaded by a large window overlooking my backyard. This window is no more the 4 feet from the property line and directly over my jacuzzi. A person standing at that window would be within 15 feet of the water and looking down into my yard. Is there any way to get my privacy back? or any recourse like demanding he install privacy screens so he can not look directly into my Jacuzzi?

Re: Backyard Privacy Issues

Sounds like you may be a little late for any legal action. I'd recommend that you speak to the neighbor and think in terms of what you can do, or both you and your neighbor might do. The first thing that comes to mind is some sort of cover over your jacuzzi.

You should go the the city and county and see if your neighbor violated any city ordinances in the construction. Call me for free consultation if you have any questions.
