Re: children and pools

California has a swimming pool safety act, found in the Health and Safety Code at sections 115921 et seq.

The provisions are a bit lengthy to recite here, but in general it is required to have some kind of sefety device such as a pool cover or enclosure if the pool was installed after a certain date.

There may be other requirements elsewhere in California law, including local ordinances.

Although the main purpose of the Swimming Pool Safety Act is to prevent accidental drownings of small children, the law seems to apply to all pool installations without regard to whether there are toddlers in the home or neighborhood, or not.

You should look up and read the law for specifics if they are important to your situation. It is accessible on line.
