Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

how many days does a property owner have to keep tenant's belonging in an apartment before they can be removed? The legal tenant was killed on August 24, 2015 and his things remain in the unit. The unit is unoccupied and the belongings remain. No rent is being paid.
