Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Am I financially responsible for a trespassing cat injured by my dog?

My property is properly and securely fenced on all sides. If a neighbor's cat enters my backyard, and my dog injures this cat, am I financially responsible in any way?

Thank you.

That would depend upon the facts of your case. If the neighbor is demanding payment for the cat, turn the claim over to your home owner's insurance.

Under these circumstances I would say no so long as your dog was on your property and the cat was trespassing. It is your neighbors resposibility to keep the cat out of your yard.
