What kind of a refund does the seller of a house receive? Not knowing who issued you the check or why, I can only suggest that you treat it as any stale check by taking it to the bank it is drawn upon, if reasonably possible, and asking that bank to cash it. Alternatively, you can deposit it in your own bank and see what happens. Banks are not required to honor checks more than six months old (see Commercial Code section 4404), but they can if the account is still open and has funds. Otherwise, you should contact the maker and ask for a new check.
