My friend has told her ex boyfriend to come get his stuff out of her house for 10 weeks...all via text. at what point can she sell his stuff. They have been apart for 2 yrs and she let him bring stuff there to store for a bit because he couldn't afford storage.

As a voluntary bailee, she must give him "reasonable" opportunity to claim his things after she gives notice she wants to terminate the bailment. What is "reasonable" depends on all the facts and circumstances. I'm afraid that's as clear as the law gets.
