Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Grant Deed

Hello. I own a home in CA. I have set up a living trust and would like to transfer my home into the living trust. Is the statutory grant deed form you are selling the correct legal document to transfer my home into the living trust? Thank you.

Respectfully,

Re: Grant Deed

The lawyers who respond here do not have any direct connection with the vendors of LawGuru. Typically, a grant deed would work. There are other things to consider, however, including making sure that the property is not reassessed at a higher rate because of the transfer. You might consult a lawyer to do this correctly. Also, you need to submit a preliminary change of title form to the assessor's office. When you're dealing with such a substantial asset, usually it's not worth it to scrimp.
