Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Hi..help! I have an eviction hearing tomorrow. I thought I would have the $-$6000-but my income tax hasn't shown up-and I only have $2500. Not enough to pay the back rent-but enough to move. At first they wouldn't take my $-when it was $3600-but now they'll accept $6000...what should I do? Also...how long does it take an eviction to post on your record?

By "eviction hearing," I suppose you mean trial for unlawful detainer. Practices differ from county to county and my UD experience is limited to one county, but you may find that there is a court-appointed mediator present to discuss the parties' issues briefly before trial begins. This may be an opportunity to make a final offer to pay part now and the balance immediately upon receipt of your tax refund, Be sure it is understood that if you do this you will be reinstated as a tenant (if that's what you want). As to how soon the news will hit the credit bureaus, it could be a very short time. We are seeing a lot of court and other records being updated once a week, so maybe you should be thinking "one to seven days."
