HOA Board Member Dispute

I am a board member of a HOA in the Bay area. I have a dispute with the HOA Board. Can I hire my own attorney to deal with the many...many.. issues?

Re: HOA Board Member Dispute

You have a right to hire an attorney yourself but not on behalf of the Board. You would have to pay that attorney for any action he may have to take to remedy any illegal action. If the advice you seek is generic in nature, the Association's attorney can help you. If you have a specific problem, then you should have your own counsel. If the Association is doing something illegal and that is what is bothering you, you may be responsible being on the Board even if you don't agree with the action. We can help you if you are more specific in your question.
