Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Hoa board suspends election for new board members

Our HOA board called an emergency board meeting, and decided to suspend our election, after ballots have gone out and members have voted. The board said they had to because the management company was leaving on April 30th. But the management company said they would stay on for 30 days after, to pay the bills. The election is on April 22nd, so what's the problem. Besides, the board knew the management company's contract was up. They've been our management company for three years. Is it legal for the board to suspend elections like this.

We would like the new board to be repsonsible for hiring a new management company.

I sent this question before but it wasn't clear. No Hoa mentioned. Sorry.
