Adding your spouse to title to your home can have lots of unintended consequences. You should consult with a Family Law attorney before you do so. At a minimum you need to decide whether to take and hold the new title in the form of community property or joint tenants. If you do want to go forward, you would prepare and record a interspousal transfer deed, which will not trigger documentary transfer tax or a reasessment for property taxes. You would then file it with the County Recorder in the county in which the property is located.
