Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Home sold in foreclosure

I was incarcerated and my wife abandoned our home. During divorce proceeding Judge ordered her to sell the house. She abandoned it and it went into foreclosure. The mortgage company has been harrassing me to pay the debt. House was sold in foreclosure. Wouldn't the second be satisfied upon the sale? Am I still responsible for the debt?

Re: Home sold in foreclosure

If the first mortgage holder foreclosed, the second mortgage holder would become an unsecured creditor.

Your best bet maybe to contact an attorney about filing bankruptcy. This will get rid of the pests. Quickly and easily.
