Leasing Laws
I gave my 30 days notice on January 10, 2000. The manager said that was fine, but that I have to pay for the 10 days the lease goes into February. If another tenant moves into the apartment on February 1, 2000, can I legally be charged for the days I don't live there? The manager is telling me I have to pay $30/day even though I have already moved.
Re: Leasing Laws
The landlord is partially correct. You must pay rent until the day 31st day after you give notice. The landlord may not get paid twice for the same period of time. If the landlord rents the apartment to another tenant he must refund the rent you paid fof thattime.
