Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Length of Lease

I have been living in my current apartment for more than 2 and a half years and every year I sign one year lease. This

time they have increased my rent and they are only offering me a 6 month lease. Is that legal in California ? However they are offering more than 6 month leases to new residents.

Any advise will be appreciated.
