Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Property Damage

I live in a town house and my next door neighbour's water heater has leaked into my kitchen and damaged the cabinets and walls. My insurance agreed to cover the damages. But when the contractor suggested by my insurance company started the work and when he removed the wall he found out the studs inside the wall also has been damaged. My insurance is saying they will not cover that damages.

My next door insurance has rejected to cover my damages whatsoever.

How should I proceed? Since it involves lots of money.

Thanks,

Re: Property Damage

Your insurance can not limit the repairs so long as they are within your coverage. The issue is whether the insurance company has a basis, other then increased costs of repair, upon which to deny this part of your claim. You should request a written explanation of the basis of the denial. If you need help, this is an area in which I have extensive experience. You may contact me at 818-760-0100 ext 101.
