real estate law

I have been living in a home owned by my girl friend, we were to get married. I have cancer and now we are not involved. I invested 100,000.00 dollars in this home and now she says I have no claim to a percentage of the market value of this home. she does not live with me now has she durring the remodel and investment. do I have a claim against the property for my investment of 100,000.00 in to this property. we have been together for 7.5 years and we are both in our 50's I am terminal and she will not want to take care of me. so I would like to get my money back and have some sort of quality of life over the next year or so. do I have legal recourse

Re: real estate law

Yes you do have some right to the equity in the home. Unfortunately, however, if your former girlfriend is unwilling to sell the house and split the proceeds with you, you are going to have to file a lawsuit to enforce your rights.

You should IMMEDIATELY get an appointment with an attorney who practices in the area of real property, and perhaps a family law attorney because of the period of time you and your ex were involved.
