Rental security deposits

I would like to know if rental security deposits accrue interest in California? If so, what is the current rate?

Re: Rental security deposits

There is no requirement that interest be paid on security deposits. However, if the landlord puts the security deposit into an interest bearing account the tenant owns the interest.
