Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Rights and Obligations Concerning Fences

I have a fence that is on the property line that I have paid for half of its installation with the landlord. The tenants that I share the fence with are using it as a clothes line. I would like to know what my rights are concerning the clothes I have to view on my side of the fence?

Re: Rights and Obligations Concerning Fences

If the fence is truly the property line, or can be regarded as such, any part of the clothing that hangs over onto your side is a trespass and could in theory be the basis of a lawsuit that you should win. However, in real life it is much more sensible to negotiate problems like this. I suggest you consider whether the laundry is really annoying enough to even mention. If it is, politely inform your neighbor and request that he/she find another location.
