Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Scary subletter wont leave!

Hello.

I live in San Francisco in a unique situation. I sublet a room in my apartment to a man who is intimidating and violent. I am a small 23 year old college grad. I sleep with my door locked and I do not leave my puppy home because he has admitted to hitting her. What an awful situation! I gave him a 30 days notice which he signed and agreed to. 30 days is up tomorrow and he has stated that he has no intention of leaving. I am not the landlord. What are my rights, what are his rights? He has only paid rent for one week. (Up to tomorrow). I have a new person moving in in 2 days (already paid) since I assumed the room would be vacant. I feel unsafe at home. Can I call cops, do I have to go to a lawyer. IS the 30 day eviction notice even valid? To make matters even more difficult, my landlord does not speak English and communication with her is difficult. What should I do? I want him out now!

Re: Scary subletter wont leave!

Consult with an attorney regarding the eviction and possibly a restraining order against your tenant.
