Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Utility Bill

I realized that I had a utility bill on my credit report that was 6 years past due. We (the tenants of the rental property) had moved out of the unit 3 months prior, and clearly the utility was not properly switch when we did (my responsibility since it was in my name). The landlord used the unit as a vacation rental during the period in question.

Does the landlord bear any responsibility for the bill or is solely up to their discretion as to whether to pay any or all of it?

Re: Utility Bill

If you have not paid or promised to pay anything within the last 4 years, you are under no legal obligation to pay.
