Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

I'm 17 and I worked at a shop. My boss tried kissing me. He would try to hug me and touch my face. He sent me texts saying why do I reject him of he has money. What would the outcome be if I Sue him.

Of course, what your boss is doing is completely illegal and I am sorry you have to put up with this stuff. But please understand that no one can predict what kind of outcome you can expect based on so little information.

Among the things an attorney would need to know is how strong your case is. Are there witnesses you can depend on who have seen what your boss has done? How long has this been going on? Have you complained to anyone about this? Has he sent you any emails, texts, letters, etc. containing harassing evidence? The point is, it is one thing to allege sexual harassment but another thing to prove it. An attorney would have to know how strong your evidence is to assess the strength of your case.

There are many good employment law attorneys you can speak to. One good source is to go to the website for the California Employment Lawyers Association at www.cela.org and click on the "Member Search" part of the menu and look for attorneys who practice in the field of sexual harassment in your area.

If you can prove your allegations, you have grounds for a lawsuit. The question is whether you can prove it. Did you keep the texts he sent, and are they clear about the subject? Are there any witnesses or other evidence to back you up when he denies it? Are there any other 'documents' ?

Please feel free to contact me to discuss what evidence and proof you have, and what your rights and remedies are. I've been doing these cases for many years, and will be happy to help you.

I am very picky about sexual harassment cases. In fact, I turn most sexual harassment cases away. However, given your fact pattern, I believe, given the possible evidence, that you might have a cause of action. Please give me a call to discuss this matter further. You can reach me on my cell phone at 818.943.0462.
