Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

landlord sexual harassment

I was told that there was leaking from my bathroom to the unit under me. i scheduled an appointment for him to send a plumber but, ironically the pumberhad an emergency and couldnt make it.So he came attempting o fix it. He nevr scheduled for the tenent beneath me to be home so wasnt able to thoroughly address the problem being that the leak was in his apartment. i mentioned i was working out to lose weight for an audition and he then began to touch my body and fondle with my legs and butt. also asking me to take my pants down so he could see. i wrote him a letter explaining how uncomfortable i was including the next months rent as well. The leaking problem was never solved and the day after i sent him the letter explaining how uncomfortable i was i recieved i letter stating i had to move out in 30 days. would this be something to pursue in a law suit?

Re: landlord sexual harassment

Yes, this is retaliation for complaining about sexual harassment. You could file a complaint with the CA Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which might conduct an investigation. You have a defense to a lawsuit if you pay your rent.
