Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

verbal abuse

Does verbal abuse qualify as sexual harassment? I have worked

for over 30-years and have always been able to handle unique

personalities and idiosyncrasies. My current male boss/owner

uses no sexual comments whatsoever; instead he demoralizes

and degrades his workers who fall out of favor until they quit.

After being his office manager for four-years I am now the recipient

of his rath. It is not possible for me to just walk away from this job

because age is not working in my favor in the job market, and I am

sure he know it. Is there anything I can do?

Re: verbal abuse

'Simple' harassment is not illegal, but a part of the human condition you have to suffer. IF it could be argued that this is 'sexual' or gender in nature, intimidating a female, then maybe help exists. If you are male, your only recourse is through HR and complaints, which likely will cause you further problems unless they can prevent retaliation. You could ask for transfer or other remedy.
