Legal Question in Social Security Law in California

i haved lived with this woman for 16 years in california am i by common law married to this woman ? and when does common law really apply? thank you really appreciate your opinion.

There is absolutely no common law marriage in California. You definitely are not married. none of your assets are community property. If you have promised to take care of her for her life, she may have a palimony claim against you [Lee Marvin case] however.
