Legal Question in Tax Law in California

IRS Check to a Decease Person

A friend of mine, received a tax rebate check from the IRS that was in her decease father's name. He died last year, but filed his taxes before he died. Can my friend cash the check or does she need to contact the IRS? or a probate attorney?

The estate belongs to the estate. If the estate is less than $ 150K, then title to his property may be acquired via declaration. Contact me directly.
