Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Is there a law in California that say you can't "cut" a cop because I signaled my left lights at least 2 secs and "cut" a cop.

Actually, when I just got on a freeway, I made a change to the outer left lane, after seeing in my front mirror on the left that there's no car too close behind on that lane. But a few seconds after, I saw in the inside mirror a police car after me, signalling me to pull over. The officer, told me that I should have let him pass over me - apparently he was in the car behind, but I didn't recognize it's a police car (when the above signals are not in) - and he gave me the citation ! Is this reasonable? Did I violate any rule that I was not aware of? Thanks.

I say the cop was wrong. He deserves no greater rights than any other public citizen. You would have to prove that you acted reasonably, and that no one would have expected the cop to have cut you off.
