Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

My rental was damaged by another motorist while parked in lot.

My rental was parked in a private lot in california. It was hit by an unisured motorist. I only had the renter liability protection coverage. I turned in the driver's id information and witness statements. The rental company says That I must pay damages and loss of rental income on the vehicle. Am I fully liable because I rented the car? Is the driver of the car liable?

You are liable if the rental contract says you are. If so, you will end up paying the rental company but you can sue the other driver to get the money back.
