Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

benificiaries,life,death,survivors benifits

My dad had life insurance, and a will that included his wife myself,my brother and my sisters as his benificiaries. Now my dad has died and his wife or children can't seem to find which company he had insurance with. So we had to pay for his funeral service with cash. How do we find his life insurance policy without a companies name and without his policy number? What do we need to access this information so that his loved ones can receive their benifits? How long does it take?

there is a service that can attempt to locate insurance for a decedent. see:

the executor of the will should also retain a qualified attorney in the county in which your father died to determine whether or not probate is necessary.

There may be more to this than meets the eye. You should contact a probate attorney for assistance with the administration of your father's estate.

Yikes. I would try going through his bank statements, or to his bank, looking for the cancelled premium checks. Or maybe you'll get lucky and receive a bill.
