Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I need some help with changing my property into my name or trust name after the death of my husbanc 6 months ago. I have been gathering value of everything as of date of death, such as checking accounts, Iras, CD's Life Ins,, cars and loans. I change his Iras into my name and Life insurance has been collected. Is a simple evaluation on real estate from realtors adequate or do I need the expensive type of an appraisal from an appraiser. Everything combined has a value of under the 7 million for 2009, so there should be no estate tax, RIGHT? Do I need a new Living Trust written for just me, his widow. How much should these final things cost.

A lawyer cannot give you an answer to a question that has insufficient detail. I suggst that you bring all of the documents with you for a consultation with an attorney in your community. Since the property has so much value, it would be worth the expense to get it right.

I would need to review the trust to determine whether or not it survives the trustor. I could do so for a minimal fee. Contact me directly.
