My father and I are estranged. My father is the executor of my grandparents estate. Both of my grandparents have passed in the last year. I am curious about reading the will because my grandfather promised several items to me before his death. I dont trust my father to be honest with me regarding the terms of the will. what rights do I have. The will is a California will.

If your grandparents had Wills, the executor has a duty to file them with the Clerk of Court in the county where they lived. Then, it is a public record and you can get a copy.

If he has not filed for probate, as an interested party you can do so which would require him to file the Wills with the court. You have the right to demand to see the Wills.
