Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My father, who was residing in California, passed away last year. I have never seen a Will although he had told me in the past that he and my stepmother had consulted an attorney. My question is, although I expect my stepmother inherited everything upon his passing, do I have any claim to the joint assets or property after my stepmother's passing or do all assets fall to her heirs upon her passing?

Depends on the provisions of their estate planning documents. If your dad left everything outright to your stepmother (via will or trust) you have no right to inherit, but then, neither do her children.
